Lee johnson.......A Passionate Jeweler and Metalsmith
Lee enjoys creating jewelry designs as much as she craves golf with Bill and Muggsy. Muggsy sits in the golf cart cheering us on as if she is in the gallery. Her jewelry making involves metals, such as gold, sterling, bronze, and copper. She cuts, hammers, forms and melts the metal. As an accent, stones and beads are added.

New Designs
I am very encouraged by new designs. One is a wrap-around scarf pin...different from the flat pins. Also, I think the earrings should have multiple pieces dangling, some with mixed metals for excitment.. Also, I want the necklaces to be more delicate this year with mutiple stands that could be interchanged with other lengths. I am very excited about this direction of designs; and am anxious to begin work on them as soon as I get through New Years' celebrations and my birthday on Jan. 2nd. Of course, golf takes its priority interpersed with jewelry making.

Butterfly Scarf Pin
Just created a butterfly scarf pin out of the melted bronze on copper. Sold several at the "ART IN THE PARK" show in Clayton this weekend. Very popular. Am going to create several leaf styles in copper, and torch them to make them different colors, like real leaves in the forest. Should have these posted this week.Tuesday, October 25, 2011
Cleaning Jewelry
I've found cleaning jewelry, that is slightly tarnished by finger prints or weather, is easy using ketchup. Just rub it on with fingertips or use a toothbrush...let sit for a few seconds and then wash off the ketchup. Dry jewelry thoroughly. I recommend this process with metal...not precious stones that are porous; i.e., pearl, bone, or amber.

New Copper Creation
Today, Bill and I installed a copper fireplace mantel decoration. Its dimensions are approximately 5 feet by 4 feet. It is triangular shaped with rivets on three sides. We are very pleased with it.
